Our First Fight

Angry words like arrows fly,
Echoing beneath a clouded sky.
The warmth we knew replaced by ice,
Misunderstandings cut like a vice.
Tears of frustration sting my eyes,
As accusations and hurt feelings rise.
Gentle love we nurtured seems to fade,
Lost in this turmoil that our words have made.
Promises whispered now seem faint and slight,
Our connection falters in dimming light.
Did we stumble, lose our path so dear?
Is this tender bond unravelling, I fear?
Silence stretches long, heavy with despair,
Unspoken pleas hang heavy in the air.
Can we bridge this chasm, mend this wounded heart?
Or must our paths now painfully depart?
